KNM produces largest process tanks for Alcan
|
EQUIPMENT process manufacturer KNM Group Berhad, through
its wholly-owned subsidiary KNM Process Systems Sdn Bhd,
has successfully produced its first three units of
Ferrosilt Washer Tanks for the Alcan Gove alumina
refinery in Australia’s Northern Territory.
This has
earned the company a place in Malaysia Book of Records
for producing the largest process tank in Malaysia.
Another
achievement by KNM is that each of the washers,
measuring 24 metres in diameter and 22 metres in high,
was built and assembled in KNM’s facility in Kuantan
Port, transported and shipped in a single piece to
Australia.
Group
managing director Lee Swee Eng said latest deal with
Alcan Gove Development Pty Ltd marks another milestone
for the group as this is its inaugural project in the
minerals processing industry.
“It certainly
complements our goals and proves our ability to
diversify into industries other than oil, gas and
petrochemicals,” he said at a load-out ceremony in
Kuantan yesterday. |
KNM was awarded purchase orders by Alcan Gove, a subsidiary of
Alcan Inc of Canada, last December to manufacture washers,
aglomerators, precipitators, flash vessels, digestors and
decanters for the refinery, which is currently undergoing a A$2
billion (A$1 = RM2.90) expansion.
