The rod baffle heat exchanger is a shell & tube exchanger where the conventional plate baffles are replaced with rod grids extending on the whole shell section. This concept considerably reduces pressure drop across the shell side of the exchanger and eliminates dead flow areas in the bundle. Rod baffle grids are installed with alternating rod-layout in order to locks firmly each tube thus providing maximum tube vibration protection. Rod baffle find application in major petrochemical processes where low pressure drop or vibration free operation is a major requirement.
